Appraisonality is a particular attitudinal and behavioral response pattern of an individual that occurs when the individual foresees any benefit of any kind for oneself. Appraisonality can usually be found during performance appraisals.

Various symptoms of Appraisonality are:

  • Trying to prove subordinates or colleagues of same level are wrong even when they aren’t.
  • Trying to over deliver on the work even when it’s not expected.
  • Manipulating a situation to favor oneself.
  • Projecting minuscule achievements as something unachievable.

Now I wish I could add my newly coined word “Appraisonality” to Wikipedia :-)
